Depeche Mode Database

This is one of my final projects from the Web Development and Design course I took at Humber a couple of years back.

The idea was to introduce us to practical CMS’s with content that we were familiar with.  This was a group project of three people which included myself, Steve and Anand – this was my first group coding project…  What a nightmare!  But also an amazing learning experience that relatively, was not all that bad.

Steve was the creative lead, I was in charge of the front end, and Anand was responsible for the back end functionality.  In the end, I felt that I took on a lot of the project management responsibilities: co-ordinating design with the Anand, scheduling meetings, and interfacing with our ‘client’ (aka instructor) to make sure all the pieces fit together.

Since I was familiar with music (I owned a record store for nearly ten years in Guelph) and Steve had a very strong radio background, we decided we could use Depeche Mode’s extensive music catalog as our database.  We ended up linking youtube videos

The image on the left shows the release information page which quickly links to videos and other information about specific songs.

I was very happy with the visual layout, Steve really deserves props on that!
